It’s been a day full of the joys of back pain. I slept badly. Every time I moved, I woke up. But it does feel as though the pain is easing up a little. One thing I forget whenever this happens is just how exhausting pain is. It necessitated a midday nap. I should be back to normal in a couple of days.
It has meant another day of not getting a lot done so hoping I’ll be a little more productive tomorrow.
And on it goes. The days, weeks, and months, merge into a formless mass. These words here are the only way to recall the day to day. I’m unsure about what other specific memories I’ll have once we get through this.
And on it goes. Another 151 deaths brining the total to 41, 279 across all UK health and care settings. 1,266 new cases confirmed yesterday.
Almost 32,000 recent contacts have been identified through the Test and Trace service. About 85% of these have agreed to self-isolate. I hope protections are put in place to ensure people don’t lose jobs, retain income and so on. And the other concern is that figures from the Office of National Statistics suggest that 70% to 80% of those who test positive, don’t show any symptoms.
It seems in terms of the rhetoric, we’ve moved away from ‘common sense’ to ‘do your civic duty’.
I think I’ll continue with the approach I’ve had since this all kicked off – act as though I’m infected, act as though everyone around me is infected, none of us know it. It makes social distancing less of a chore.
Lots of chatter about the announcement yesterday regarding ‘support bubbles’.
That’s enough from me today. Pain sucks. But it will get better.
So that’s it for Day 80. Stay safe, stay well, and stay home!
So sorry about your back and hope it improves really soon. I walked 8.5 miles today to meet one friend in a park and walk to another friend’s house where we sat in her garden for a bit and chatted. I will do that and I will run with one other person and go to the supermarket, but not broadening it out any more than that.
Thanks Liz. And so happy for you, that’s absolutely brilliant!! I hope you had a fab time!
