I woke up calmer this morning. Certainly calmer, less discombobulated than yesterday. Discombobulated is an underused word. Perhaps a word well suited to these strange times we find ourselves in.
After a bit of writing, I headed out. I headed to Belair Park, one of the quieter parks in lockdown land, and met up with a friend. I haven’t seen this friend for months as she’s been staying outside London with her husband. A good solid two hour something chat about pretty much everything, I headed home. There were phone calls either side with another friend.
The weather shifted from grim to sunny. The chats left me in a good mood. It’s good to have shaken off much of the mood from the last couple of days, weeks, perhaps longer. It’s hard to know as I never read through these daily entries. I will once this is all over. But for the moment, it’s too close to home.
The world continues to turn. Lots of discussion about relaxing the 2 metre social distancing rule. It does increase the risk of infection. Clearly whether your indoors or outdoors plays a role. As of course does the proportion of folks with the virus.
And this is a bugger of a virus. Many of those who have had it are asymptomatic but can still pass it on. And I’m hearing of more and more people who have had it, been ill for a couple of weeks then ‘recovered’ without needing hospitalisation. But days and weeks and months later, they’re having a whole host of symptoms. There’s also growing evidence that having had it doesn’t necessarily confer immunity. Or at least it doesn’t confer immunity for long.
I think the next big discussion point will be whether or not wearing of masks should be compulsory at all times indoors. In England masks are only compulsory on public transport though lots of people still don’t wear them.
Another 128 deaths bringing the total to 42,589. Again being told we’ve ‘made great progress’. Such a cheery refrain…
We’ve still got a long way to go.
It’s a Saturday. It’s time for a glass of wine and to chill.
So that’s it for Day 89. Stay safe, stay well, and stay home!
