Fantastic and have an amazing time! It's great to have folks you know on the course and involved in the race. And as you say, you've done what you can so now it's time to enjoy. Happy running Liz!

I will look at it for next year, definitely. I'm doing the Birmingham Marathon - a sort of home town inaugural as we haven't had a mara since the 80s. It's a horrible course but will have good support from my running club and our rival / sister club, plus it has a loop AND the half-marathoners who start later should pass me, too, so plenty of people to cheer on. I'm not as strong as I would have liked to be, as I had an operation in May, put back from April, but I've done what I can, so time to taper now and enjoy in 13 days.

Sounds like a really fun and well organised half marathon to do and the medal looks fantastic. There are so many other races taking place around the same time as this one in my area so never gave Ealing a go but your article has definitely convinced me to enter for next year!

Thanks so much Liz and do sign up for this one if you get the chance. And yep, Mary has put up with me many a time with the long run grumps! For this race, it was lovely to see people hanging out outside their houses cheering on all the runners, including those towards the back, and it gave you a real sense of community. And yep, it got pretty warm so thankful for all the water tables and that I wore sunscreen. And have an amazing marathon - which one are you doing? Soph

"She has been my savior on many a long training run, meeting me for the last 4 or 5 miles, that point where I start to really suffer." - I love this, I have several friends who do this for me as they don't run as long as me and it makes SUCH a difference. This sounds like a fab half to do and I'll consider it myself, esp as we're all railing against the bad organisation and profit-making of the run lots of us are about to do here. I ran on Sunday and it was HOT, very upsetting for a last pre-marathon long run. Oh well! Well done to both of you!

Cheers Fran, it was great to meet Susie as well as catch up with other folk! And yep, a little warm. It was a brilliant race - perhaps one for next year!

Fab review – I loved this run, I thought the community, helpers and marshals were awesome and offered a lot of (at times) much needed support! I also loved the pacers who I played a fun game of leap-frog with the whole way – I thought they did a great job. I would absolutely run this event again – next year Sophie?
;) x
