London – Day 64 of lockdown

Alpaca

A bit of a change of pace required today.  And a very short post.

My reason for writing these posts is to keep a record of what life is like in lockdown. At least my experience of it. It’s hard to remember what day of the week it is or how long this has lasted for. The days and weeks and months bleed together with time doing strange things.

It’s now Tuesday, the day after a Bank Holiday weekend. And what a glorious weekend it was.

On Saturday morning, I met up with my friend at the Horniman Museum gardens. It was the second time since lockdown began that we had met.

We met, we wandered, we chatted, we sat, at an appropriate social distance. It was windy, we were both a little teary eyed from hayfever. We said hello to some alpacas. I was feeling mildly jealous of them as not only had they been put in with the goats, I guess to widen their social circle, they’d managed to have haircuts.

The evening was spent on the phone, chatting, laughing, some wine. A late night. It made Sunday a little groggy. An easy day, some walks, some laundry. The excitement of a Sunday in lockdown.

And yesterday? Again the weather was glorious and many wanders around my local streets. I’d been told how busy Dulwich Park was so stayed clear.

And today has been much the same, though I did head to Dulwich Park. It was pretty crowded. Many people sitting about on picnic blankets – couples, parents with kids, though there seemed quite a few who didn’t get the memo about only meeting with 1 person and staying at an appropriate social distance. 1 +1  ≠ 10 – or it’s a very big household…

So that’s it for Day 64. Stay safe, stay well, and stay home!
