London – Day 73 of lockdown

It’s one of those days in lockdown where I’m in a grump. It might be having getting up way too early after waking up from 4.30am. It might be the change in weather – grim, grey, chilly. Or it might be that in going to the shops today, it seems that lots of folks can’t be bothered with social distancing anymore. Maybe because I’m having carb cravings which for me is an early indicator of a cold (and yes, I can still smell and taste, no aches, no cough).

It’s one of those days I’m tempted to throw a temper tantrum. But that would just be weird.

At least I managed to post an article on Covid-19 and issues involving ‘immunity passports’.

Perhaps it was following too much in the news yesterday. Today I’ve significantly limited the news scrolling.

A further 176 deaths bringing to total to 39,904. This only accounts for deaths where Covid-19 has been confirmed.

Face coverings to be compulsory on public transport from 15 June in England. In Scotland, this requirement will extend to going into shops. I can see why. My only concern is something I’ve observed and that is that some folks seem to behave as though there’s no risk if they’re wearing a mask so social distancing doesn’t have to be maintained.

Alok Sharma, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, is currently self-isolating after becoming ill in Parliament yesterday. He is being tested for Covid-19. Sharma had a meeting with the Prime Minister earlier in the day. He would have been present for the voting to determine if MPs have to be present in Parliament to conduct business. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

#BlackLivesMatter protests continue to be held around the world. Most disturbing are the images from the US of police and other forces using violence against peaceful protesters. People have died. People are angry and rightly so.

Tonight will be media light and time to watch a rubbish film or two.

So that’s it for Day 73. Stay safe, stay well, and stay home!
